The following Ordinance was adopted September 13, 2004.

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 10.04.01-WATER AND SEWER RATES, OF THE HARRISON MUNICIPAL CODE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, the present Code provides for a ten dollar ($10.00) reconnect charge when water customers fail to pay for water and sewer services. The $10.00 charge has proven to be too little amount to encourage timely payment nor does it cover the City's personnel cost to disconnect and reconnect the customer's meter;

WHEREAS, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HARRISON, ARKANSAS:

• PART 1. That Section 1 of Code Section 10.04.01 of the Harrison Municipal Code "Water and Sewer Rates" shall be amended to increase the Reconnection Fee from Ten Dollars ($10.00) to Fifty Dollars ($50.00):
• That all other provisions of Section 1 remain in full force and effect.

PART 2. This Ordinance is required for the best interest and welfare of the citizens of Harrison and time is of the essence, therefore an emergency is declared to exist and this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from the date of publication.
