Special City Council meeting held

The Special City Council meeting was held at 2 p.m. Monday, September 16, to approve two timely items that could not wait until the regular meeting on Sept. 26.

David Wilson, the city's IT Director, sought approval to finalize the contract with Ritter Communications. This contract will provide the necessary fiber and bandwidth infrastructure to ensure sufficient upload and download speeds for Creekside Community Center E-Sports lab and provide sufficient time for the company to install the fiber before the grand opening.

City COO/Engineer Wade Phillips said while the council was together, he wanted to request final approval of a bid waiver resolution forwarded to Council from committee last week.  As discussed previously in committee meetings, the bid waiver is paving services at Creekside and Rose Hill Cemetery.  Phillips indicated that the contractor’s schedule would likely allow them to start work before the regularly scheduled Council meeting on September 26.
