   Fire Department – Community Risk Reduction Division

The City of Harrison is now accepting applications for the following position: CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER

Position Overview: Under general supervision of the Division Chief of Community Risk Reduction, to assist in the implementation of a community-oriented fire prevention and life safety program; enforce city ordinances; perform plan reviews on fire protection systems; enforce fire laws; participate in firefighting, emergency medical services, rescue and hazardous materials response as required; and to perform related work as required.
Ideal candidates would have the following:  IFSAC Firefighter I and II, IFSAC Inspector I, IFSAC Instructor I, IFSAC Officer I.   Starting Annual Salary: $47,970.96

   Police Officers
The City of Harrison is now accepting applications for the following position:  Full-Time Police Officers.  Annual salary of $35,872, with benefit package including insurance, retirement, holidays, vacation and sick leave.

Qualifications: Must be a U.S. citizen; be at least 21 years of age or older; possess a valid Arkansas Driver’s License; have no felony record/arrests; be able to pass a background investigation, a psychological examination and a physical examination, as well as a polygraph examination; ability to work rotational shifts; must be fingerprinted.

   Parks Dept Groundskeeper
The City of Harrison is now accepting applications for the following position:  Full-Time Parks Groundskeeper.  This position will perform a variety of tasks in connection with the operation of ball fields, public parks, City pool, sports complexes, and Youth Center facilities. This includes maintenance of lawns, turfs and athletic fields; maintain lawn and sports equipment; collecting trash from grounds, parking lots and sidewalks; cleaning of all facilities; and performs other related work as required.

Qualifications: Must be in good physical condition; able to follow instructions; capable of getting along with others; and work well independently and in groups. Hours to work: 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Parks Application

   Firefighter

The City of Harrison is now accepting applications for the following position:  Full-time Fire-fighters. Applicants will be required to pass an entrance exam and pass a physical fitness course. Applications can be picked up at the Harrison City Hall in the Mayor’s Office (Human Resources Director) at 114 South Spring Street, Mon. - Fri., 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.  Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Applicants must have a valid Arkansas driver’s license with a clean driving record, and an Arkansas State Police background check. And drug testing will be required for employment.  If hired for full-time position applicant will be required to spend nine weeks at the Arkansas Fire Academy in Camden, Arkansas. For further information you may call or email the Harrison Fire Department at 870-741-6384 or fire@harrisonar.gov.

  Part-Paid Firefighters
(This is a volunteer (paid per run) on-call program to assist the full-time staff of the Fire Dept)
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age;have graduated or have a high school equivalency certificate;complete and pass a Arkansas Police background check with no felonies and/or violent criminal history; complete and pass a drug screening; a US citizen; valid drivers license; good physical condition and pass a physicians physical; possess a valid Arkansas Class D Driver’s License; and live within 20 miles of the city limits.  Applications will be accepted until further notice.
